CARP SECTION

With the first Official match taking place in 2006, the Carp Section is a well established discipline within the Association. Experience and correct equipment is recommended, however many experienced anglers are present within the section, so help is at hand for anyone just starting up, and spare equipment can be made available for matches.

Matches are fished at venues of varying difficulties. Venues like Drayton Reservoir or Southwick Park are regulars on the agenda and tend to produce huge bags of Carp and make for some exciting matches. However we also fish at trickier venues such as Horseshoe or Sandhurst where carp are more scarce but rewards are much bigger.

If you are interested in this section then please do not hesitate to contact the relevant personnel on the Contact page, or join the forum and speak to any of the members who will be more than willing to help.

MATCHES

This section tends to fish around 6 matches a year, and also the Inter-Services. Most matches run from Friday to Sunday. Coaching regularly takes place on the Thursday prior, followed by a BBQ and social.

EQUIPMENT

Matches are commonly fished as pairs, with two rods each. Therefore a minimum of a two rod setup would be ideal, with additional Spod/Marker rod where necessary. Matches are 48 hours so a bedchair will be required, and a bivvy if necessary dependant on weather. Transport to matches can be provided by relevant MT sections, more information on travel can be found on Admin Order in the weeks prior to the match.
