ANGLING ASSOCIATION
COARSE SECTION
The Coarse Section has been an integral part of the Association since its inception, with
some members having fished every Championship for over 40 years. Experience coupled
with the necessary equipment will quickly see you in the squad but we also have section
members, including the Chairman, who started as novices and have now fished for the UK
Armed Forces team. Many experienced anglers are present within the section who can help
out with advice and kit. A desire to be involved and compete for your Service at Coarse
Angling is all that is needed. The team is sponsored by Maver UK Ltd.

If you are interested in this section then please do not hesitate to contact the relevant
personnel on the Contact page, or join the forum and speak to any of the members who will
be more than willing to help.
MATCHES
There is a busy programme with everything from coaching and regional matches up to the Inter Services, Festivals and fishing for the UK Armed Forces. Some of the matches are open to all comers including the “Inter Region & Veterans” and the “Championships”, whilst others are by selection based on ability, but even those have room for bank runners which is a great way of learning. The matches are on canals, rivers, natural lakes and commercial fisheries which means there is great variety.
EQUIPMENT
To get going all you need is a rod & reel, keep net, landing net and something to sit on.
Squad members all have poles, feeder rods and float rods to cover the wide range of venues and fish species that need to be caught. There are great discounts from the sponsor and equipment is often sold between members which can really help get you started.
